There are three classes of members:
Associates are prospective inspectors who are not yet licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia (DPOR) to perform paid home inspections. Associates pay dues as required by the Board. Associates are not eligible to vote and may not hold office or serve on the Board.
Inspector Members shall be persons or individuals who are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia (DPOR) and are actively involved in the performance of professional paid home inspections in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or persons who supervise home inspectors.
Existing affiliation with other regional or national Inspector associations does not affect VAREI membership.
Retired Members shall be persons who have practiced as professional home Inspectors in Virginia for five or more years but are no longer doing so.
This introductory membership type is for those who have completed a training program to become an inspectors and have passed their NHIE exam as part of the Virginia requirement to become licensed home inspector.
VAREI Affiliates are NOT inspectors. Rather, they are vendors and professionals offering products and services to VAREI's inspector members.
Affiliates might be vendors who sell tools, insurance or marketing services. They might also be real estate agents or lawyers.

Guests of VAREI are home inspectors who are not VAREI members, but do want to be kept informed about upcoming events. By becoming a Guest, an inspector is, in effect, placing their name on our mailing list.
