VAREI Annual Meeting

The VAREI Annual Meeting will be held at DeFazio's Catering, 2601 Tuckernuck Drive, Richmond, VA 23294.
You must register by September 15, 2014 to be entered in the drawing for a 2015 VAREI Membership.  On site registration is open from 8:00 - 8:30 AM. Annual dues include the Annual Meeting, morning beverages and pastries, mid-morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. The Board will meet immediately after the Annual Meeting.
Mark Singer, our legislative monitor in Richmond, and Trisha Henshaw of DPORALHI Board Chair will update us on what's happening in Richmond.
For the educational segment, Cindy Price and Bill Bond of American Cowboy Roofing will cover shingles, pipe collars, flashings, ventilation, chimneys, ice dams, moisture issues, and warning signs of roof failure. Bill and Cindy are co-owners of American Cowboy Roofing. Cindy holds a degree in Business Administration, a Class A roofing license, is a CertainTeed Certified Shingle Master, and is also a GAF Master Elite Contractor. Bill has been in the roofing business for more than 43 years, and holds more than 38 US Patents.
Lance McNevin of Rehau Academy will give a presentation on PEX Piping Systems for Plumbing and Radiant Heating Applications:
PEXa Plumbing Systems
     This seminar provides a fundamental understanding of where and how to use PEXa crosslinked poly-
ethylene plumbing pipes for reliable delivery of potable water in residential and commercial applications.

      Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the capabilities of PEXa crosslinked polyethylene pipe produced using
the high-pressure peroxide method; 2. List the advantages of PEXa for plumbing systems; 3. Name the
three most common PEX plumbing piping techniques; 4. Explain installation guidelines; 5. Discuss engi-
neering information; 6. Recognize code approvals.

Radiant Heating Installation
     This seminar provides essential knowledge to install radiant floor heating (RFH) systems correctly using the
right components. Even if you have been installing radiant systems for a while, you can learn time-saving
professional installation techniques from REHAU's experts. Topics include technical information on core
products such as RAUPEX pipes, EVERLOC fittings and PRO-BALANCE manifolds, followed by advanced
radiant installation techniques for wet and dry applications, including the innovative RAUPANEL
and RAUPLATE heating systems. The benefits of radiant heating are reviewed.
Lance MacNevin is head of REHAU Academy. He joined REHAU in 1993 as a mechanical engineer in the company's building technology division. An expert in PEX-based technologies, he has primarily been involved in radiant heating and cooling, snow and ice melting, and geothermal piping. His responsibilities at REHAU have included product development, codes and standards and system design. MacNevin also works with REHAU Academy providing training programs for installers, designers and specifiers. He graduated from UNB in 1992 with a BSc.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering.
CEs approved by ASHIInterNACHI, and NAHI. Virginia usually approves anything the associations approve - CEs are not needed for Virginia unless you are Certified and audited.
